Admin bar disappears in IE11

When I select “Visit Site” from the dashboard on IE11, I wind up in the site just like any visitor. The admin bar (I think it’s called) disappears, and I have none of its functionality available.

If I go to a specific page while in the dashboard and click on “edit,” IO go to the page in edit mode. When I click on view page, the admin bar disappears and I’m again like any other visitor.

How do I make this work properly? Is there a setting in IE11 I have to change, or what?
