Admin area inaccessible (blank screen) (7 posts)

    Hi there,

I'm working on http://dianeelevin.com/wp/ (Suffusion theme).

The last time I logged in in Nov. everything was fine, but today I got a blank screen when I tried to access the admin area through http://dianeelevin.com/wp/wp-admin/. There are no error messages.

I tried everything on the "Login Trouble" codex except altering the user table, because I think it's too risky with my level of skill/knowledge to go into the database.

I know I probably have to alter something in one of the php files and upload it via FTP to get the admin interface to work again, but how can I figure out what's causing the malfunction?

I'm on a deadline to finish this site and have no way of working on it, so I really appreciate your help!

    Try:
    - switching to the Twenty Ten theme by renaming your current theme's folder in wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

    - resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

Thanks so much for your quick reply!!

Switching the theme got me back in. But now what? I need to use the Suffusion theme that I had customized. How can I figure out what went wrong with it?

Huh. Simply switching back to the Suffusion theme seems to work fine.

Any reason why this sort of thing would happen? More importantly, tips on how to prevent it?

Thanks so much for your help!

You could have some corrupt files or there might have been a temporary server problem.

Good to know. Doesn't sound too serious, so that's nice news.
    Many thanks for your help!
