# Admin approve comment error

 * Hi there!
    I’ve run into a problem when trying to select the ‘An administrator
   must always approve the comment’ option under **Settings > Discussion**. Screenshot:

 * If I try to check the box, I get the error ‘Your attempt to edit your settings
   has failed.’

 * I have no plug-ins enabled and am running the Default theme on WordPress 2.5.1
   
   This is a new (one week old) installation of WordPress with only one test post.
 * Any help would be much appreciated!

 * what if you uncheck the third box, the one about needing a minimum comment count,
   and than try the first tickbox? Ive always read them as being contradictory anyway—
   if you are moderating every comment, than whats the third tickbox do?

 * Thanks for the reply. I actually tried multiple combinations of ticked/unticked
   boxes (just to experiment) and always got the same error.
    Finally I gave up 
   and reinstalled WordPress with a new database.
 * It’s working like a charm, now! 🙂
