Admin and Authors Not Receiving Comment Notifications

  • Recently switched over to a self hosted blog. The writers started to post the last couple of days and they noticed they were not receiving any notifications that a comment needs to be approved. My writers are all registered users(administrator privileges) and the emails they want to be notified at are entered in their user profile.

I then noticed that the site admin email was not getting any notifications either. (gmail account)

I have looked at numerous old posts. Do I need to setup SMTP?

    Thoughts?

The author of an article is sent the email notification when comments are posted assuming that your Options, Discussion, Email me whenever: Anyone posts a comment is checked.

Notification of comments is sent to email address of the user/author of the post, not the admin email (though registration notification is sent to the admin email). Also some hosts will want the From: email address to be within your domain (like Yahoo).

That is the thing that is frustrating me.
    The Email ME Whenever….is checked.
