Support » Fixing WordPress » Admin alert when there are no visitors?

  • Has anyone come across a way to send an admin an alert of some kind when there are NO visitors on a site? I’ve been trying to do some troubleshooting on a site that always has so many visitors I can’t find a good time to work on the site. It would be great to get some kind of alert – an email, text message, anything – for when there are fewer visitors on the site so I can work on it.

    Odd request, I know…

    thanks!

  • Hi Treebeard,

You can have a look on following plugins:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-statistics/
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/visitors-traffic-real-time-statistics/

Although, I have not tested these plugin before but it should fulfill your requirements.

Thanks, I have used both before, and I currently use Visitor Maps. All of these just show you who’s on your site / how many visitors, but they don’t send you an alert when there are few visitors (perhaps where you would set a number to be alerted about, like 20 visitors for instance) on the site so you can perform maintenance. I’m starting to think there is nothing like that anywhere, unfortunately.

    Thanks anyway though~

    Hello,

“I’ve been trying to do some troubleshooting on a site that always has so many visitors I can’t find a good time to work on the site.”

If this is only reason to get notification about low number of visitors, good idea will be test/dev/local server.
Working on live site which have high number of online visitors is bad idea.
