I wonder if someone hacked your site. Well, when nothing else works, end run the whole mess and go straight to the database.
NOTE WELL: If you don’t understand what a database is, or if you can’t follow instructions, do not do the following. There is no Ooops! There is no undo! You have been warned!
There is a plugin that gives you a full copy of phpMyMadmin, which is a point-and-click interface directly into the database. Install http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-phpmyadmin/. Alternatively, if you don’t even have permissions to install a plugin, use your hosting company’s database interface to do the equivalent of the following.
Go to Dashboard >> Tools >> phpMyAdmin. In the right-hand column there are a bunch of table names. Click the first icon to the right of wp_users. This is the “Browse” function on the users table. Find the user you want to delete and click the red X to the left of their name. In case you missed it above, let me repeat, THERE IS NO UNDO!
There are many other things you can do in phpMyAdmin, but this is how you can get rid of a user that’s not supposed to be there. It is also possible to edit in full admin capabilities for your account, but that’s a little more complicated to describe.
If you can’t do the above (or if it scares the crap out of you) let me know and we can get together outside of this forum.

Thanks Peter! I agree, I think my account had been hacked. So after posting I did more googling and finally found an answer!
*Never use an obvious name for your admin name (like the name of your blog), because smart hackers can figure out the passwords.
*I made another admin account and from that account I could delete the hacked in account.
*I then changed my passwords and made sure both my admin accounts had different user names.
Worked for me!
