OK, kind of a long story but hopefully somebody can help me out. I had a multisite and needed to move one of the subdomain sites to it’s own server. I did a SQL backup as well as an XML backup. Somehow the XML backup got corrupted so I just have the entire SQL backup for the entire MU installation.

After installing all the wordpress 3.2 files the root site for my MU was showing up so I modified the SQL file manually by removing all the data except that needed by the site I was trying to install and changed the data in the SQL file to make it the main site. Hopefully that makes sense.

Everything seems to be working fine, except for one issue – I can’t login as an administrator. I have even followed the instructions on how to add an admin in the SQL file manually. I can log in but all I get is the profile for the admin accounts and nothing else. I either get that or “sorry, you don’t have permission….” error.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

And that’s what screwed it up. 🙂

    What you needed to do:

    make a new WP install.
    make your user.

Go into your SQL backup and take jus tthe blog specifci tables you needed. paste ’em in a text editor. rename the tables to match the single site.

drop the posts tables in your new single site. import the ones you just edited from the SQL dump.
