• Hello.

Firstly, I am completely new to WordPress.

I have been asked to create a banner for a page we have listed which has been created on wordpress. I have optimised the dimensions of my banner to fit across the top of the page, however wordpress seems resize the banner/image to a default size.

When I look at the advanced settings tab, I can see that the CSS Class displays : alignnone wp-image-1600. I’m assuming this is what is causing my image to resize to a default size?

    How do I change this?

It’s probably a size specific to the theme. Would you please share the URL of the site with the problem?

Also, you entered WordPress 3.5.2 as your version, which is almost two years out of date and has a fair share of publicly known security vulnerabilities. Please make sure you are running the latest version, 4.1.1.

    http://www.itsupport.co.uk/ is the URL.

How do I change the theme? Can I modify the default size of the image without altering the theme?

    Thanks.

I don’t see any banner at http://www.itsupport.co.uk/blog/ (which is the only WordPress part of your site).

You are using Twenty Eleven as a theme, and the header image does span the width of the theme: https://wordpress.org/themes/twentyeleven/

You can set the header image at Appearance -> Header in your blog’s Dashboard.

If you need further help with that theme in particular, I recommend asking at https://wordpress.org/support/theme/twentyeleven#postform so the theme’s developers and support community can help you with this.

As for changing themes, you can do that at any time via Appearance -> Themes in your blog’s Dashboard.
