While I was running a performance analysis on my site, one of the things mentioned was to reduce the number of redirect chains. I saw many domains being called:

    • stpix.media6degrees.com
    • p.nexac.com
    • b.scorecardresearch.com
    • adadvisor.net
    • idsync.rlcdn.com

I disabled all my plugins, and by re-enabling them one-by-one, I narrowed down the culprit to PolyLang.

While I understand that plugin developers want to know how people are using their plugin, I think that this number of marketing trackers is excessive, it is affecting my site performance, and most importantly – this is all secret! Now it feels like spyware!

I would like to be given at least the choice to disable this. This raises all sorts of privacy issues, especially if you are in the EU with their new cookie laws.

I have to apologize – it turned out not to be PolyLang after all – the reason my performance indicators all improved when I disabled Polylang was because my site broke, so nothing was being served (so of course speed improved and redirects disappeared).
