Support » Plugin: WooCommerce Google Analytics Integration » Adds and UTM tag to my link, causing too many redirects error

  • Resolved aelrida

The plugin automatically adds an UTM tag to my URL, causing my website to redirect to a Facebook campaign, thing that leads to a “Too many redirects” error.
I have deactivated the plugin for now, because I started receiving negative feedback from my clients due to the fact the website was down multiple times per day.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @aelrida,

Looking at the WooCommerce Google Analytics Integration plugin I’m not initially finding any UTM tags added to any of my test sites URLS. Have you possibly set up a custom campaign previously on your Google Analytics account?

    Hello @stuartduff,

Thank you for your reply. I have no idea how the Google Analytics campaigns work, but I asked the person who handles them, and she told me that all she did was to set up a Facebook Campaign with source, content, name and medium parameters.

The problem is that this campaign is running since September (without any changes in the parameters) but the issue I encountered started last week.

I started using this plugin last year and had no issues so far, until last week when redirect started to happen.

    Hi @aelrida

Using the Google Tag Assistant indicates there are multiple instances of the same Google property ID is tracked twice, which would cause duplicate reports.

Our suggestion would be to remove any feature or plugin that may be adding a second tag. Using our plugin, here is the support documentation to that covers all features and where to purchase the pro version for more options:

    Hello @johndcoy,

As I said before, right now the WooCommerce Google Analytics Integration is deactivated and another plugin is running instead.

The problem is not that I have duplicates in my reports, the problem is the redirect this plugin is creating (by adding the UTM tag in the URL of the website). And by this plugin, I mean WooCommerce Google Analytics Integration.

Since I deactivated the plugin, the redirect just disappeared. So, I am kinda sure it is directly related to this plugin.

Hi @aelrida. Was WooCommerce Google Analytics active along with the other plugin that you are using now? If so, does swapping the activations, that is activating WooCommerce Google Analytics and deactivating the alternate plugin that you are using right now, resolve the issue?

Hi @aelrida. We haven’t heard from you in a while so I’m going to go ahead and mark this thread as resolved. If you still need help with this issue or have any other questions about this extension, please start a new thread.

    Hi,

I am having the exact same issue here. As soon as I deactivated the plugin, the homepage started working again.

This is the utm redirect that was added to my site:
    ?utm_source=ig&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Top%20Funnel%20%7C%2003%2F04%2F21%20%7C%20Product%20View&fbclid=PAAabgZlbbdgAvBnvskZoyevPjpai-dtwiRLnc1yZBt_1Z0tkraRSqsjXb8IA_aem_AeS92z6YITfGdvaxa6wLiUGXHR7ObLca1JUqke2mYFRUrIF-Y0UqEch3zYlZ8hbBX6RkEKhl-_CD5Isz3yhua4cYGf_9fYFjl_4yswAmEXRGaaFP3PRVY5MvhJoIPHNSNkQ

I would be happy to share my site privately.

    Thanks
