• Hi all and thanks in advance for _any_ suggestions,

I’m new to WP, so not quite sure which pieces of the puzzle I need to put together.

I need to pull together some combination of I think map plugin, list/table plugin, and outside web service integration. Looking for any recommendations on approach, good plugins, which services to use, best approach to config, etc.

    The project:

    1. let the user enter their address (validate address somehow – how? vs. what?)
    2. determine if that address falls within one of several predefined geographical areas (GIS data, uploaded to a custom list or table in WP? something else?)
    3. communicate to user whether submitted address falls within the defined area

    Any ideas?

    Best,
    :)Ben

  • To be honest, most of this would fall outside of WordPress. I think you need to first identify the mapping service you want to use. Then you can figure out how their API works, how to send data to it and accept and use the responses back, and then figure out how to integrate those responses and their data into your WordPress site. As for what mapping service to use – that’s entirely up to you, your project budget and your project needs.

Looked like there were a number of plugins that did GIS in WordPress. Hoping someone here might have some experience to know which matches what I’m after and be able to recommend?
