Support » Plugin: MC4WP: Mailchimp for WordPress » Address field cause oops error if all fields not entered even when not required

  • Resolved pierrehooker

We are using the address field. On our signup form we have all the address elements. Address is not set as a required field in mailchimp – I double checked. However if you dont complete the address fields (all of them!) you will get an oops error on submission. Fill out the address fields and it submits fine. For the time being I have made the fields required just on the signup form using your plugin (but not in mailchimp) so people dont get confused.

    Hi Pierre,

Unfortunately this is a limitation that is forced by the MailChimp API. They will only accept complete address fields, not partial fields. That means the following parts should be present & filled.

    • Address 1
    • City
    • ZIP
    • Country

    The other fields are optional.

A workaround is to use a simple list field of the type “text” if you want to capture just one part of the subscriber’s address.

Sorry we can’t be of more help right here, but unfortunately there’s no way around this for us.

We have a similar issue. We are using only the name and email fields and we’ve set up both as required fields.

We tested it in Chrome. If we are signed into our Word Press account the plugin works.

If we are not signed into WordPress, we get the oops error.

Is there a way I can reset the plugin’s contact form to its default content? I believe I may have messed it up and would like to start from its original configuration.

    Hello @beyondthird,

We would request you to create a new issue instead of replying to existing post so we can assist you better and the original post creator does not get notification.

Also, to answer your question, you can simply delete the form code and add the fields again.
