Well, Astra is a theme just like others they provide the overall styling features for the content of the website and some other functionality. Currently, they don’t have such a feature.
While for the requirement of Image and other requirements, you can use Gutenberg blocks or page builders which provide such features to help you with this requirement.

It clarifies, but is disappointing. I found Astra recommended in a list of WP themes for art sites, but it seems that it’s not for that at all. I’m not a professional developer and have no idea what Gutenberg blocks or page builders are.

We have used respective plugins or page builders to achieve this requirement.
Providing various features based on users could make the theme heavier. We have heard from our users Astra works very well with Elementor page builder and doesn’t require any knowledge as a developer.

I didn’t find any templates I liked. So I’ll stick with straight Astra and add a gallery plugin.
