Additional Stock Status

Currently refining this site and was hoping to find the answer here.
I am looking to create another stock status based on ‘Out of stock’ to include a status for ‘Out of print’ or failing that to renaming ‘On Back order’ to this out of print.
The reason being they have 2 types of products, printed and none printed.
ideally, I would like;
In stock,
Out of Stock
Out of Print
On Backorder
options… can anyone help, not sure where to start and don’t want another plugin if it can be done via function.php or via editing a child theme php file….

Hey there!

From what I’ve found, this will most likely need to be added via custom code. I found a couple of code options which you can find here:

Hi @fevered

I have tried those options mentioned above. the first is an out of date plugin so I am concerned about security, especially if its tied in to shopping and the other I couldn’t get to work and again an out of date option.

the closest I have found is add a new stock status but i can’t find a way for it to act the same as out of stock
```
function add_custom_stock_statuses($statuses) {
    // Add a new status
    $statuses['customstatus'] = __( 'Out of Print', 'plugin-name' );

    return $statuses;
}
```
