Additional CSS Classes

I created an extended post type and applied it to pages so I could create a custom page title. It works fine, but I was just looking at styling it and noted that the field for “Additional CSS Classes” which has a default value in it, doesn’t appear in the HTML code on the front end. Is there some extra step I need to take to enable the CSS class so I can format the field?
