adding video without yourtube etc

    Hi, and thank you for any advice. How can one add a video to wordpress.org without using youtube and the like? If I only have shared hosting will it really cut into my bandwidth that much if there are only about 12 half and a hour to an hour long videos or even if they doubled in number over a year or two? If there a way to download one’s own videos into ones wordpress.org site?

    WordPress.org isn’t a file-sharing website, WordPress.org just distributes and maintains the WordPress software. I think you’re looking for another service that you might just have to research on Google for.

    Hi and thank you. Excuse my ignorance, but I don’t know what you mean by a file sharing website? I have video sermons (redes) from time to time, which really are video slide shows, so its not that I am planning on having large scale use of videos. I guess what you are saying is that I cannot put my own video directly on my website without embedding from youtube or similar?

    I’m saying you can’t upload videos to WordPress.org. We can’t really answer whether you can upload videos to third party websites. We can however say that all you need to do is link to the video to get it into your page, and you can do that simply through an iFrame. YouTube provides that code for you. Maybe other services do too.

    Ok. I see. I thought it was possible and I just did not know how to do it. I think I read something about one being able to do this, upload ones own videos, with wordpress.com (as oppose to dot org) or am I mistaken? Thank you very much for your help, Andrew.

    You could be right with uploading videos to WordPress.com, but that can be clarified at WordPress.com’s forums http://en.forums.wordpress.com

    Thank you. I think I prefer wordpress.org myself. I did not understand all of this. I appreciate your help.
