 * Hi,
 * I have a clothing product which is available in 30 different colours and numerous
   sizes.
 * The XL sizes are only available in 8 colours.
 * I would like to run the standard sizes and all colours as one run then the xl
   sizes with the only available colours as another.
 * What’s the easiest way to do this?
 * The only way i have found so far is to run all variations and delete the ones
   that are not possible, but this is working out to be about 300+ variations per
   product and is taking me ages.
 * Thanks.

 * If you setup one product fully and with prices, you can duplicate this template
   product from the admin list of products page. In the copy, edit just the product
   name and its image.
 * Another method would be, again set up one product fully, then export it as a
   csv file and do the copying and manipulation in your favourite spreadsheet. Finally
   import the edited csv file.

 * Hi Lorro,
 * Thanks for the reply.
 * I’m a bit confused with what you mean, do i need create 1 product with all sizes&
   colours with exception of the XL ones? Then create another with XL only and the
   8 colours then merge them via csv?

 * No, make only one product as a template. It will have only the variations that
   you sell. All items priced. It’ll take ages.
 * Then, because you have many similar products, you’ll want to duplicate the template,
   and just change the title and image in the copy.
 * You can duplicate the template in the admin list of products. As you hover over
   the template name, “Duplicate” pops into view. This will make a copy complete
   with variations. The copy just needs a new name and a new image.
 * Alternatively, export the template, then use your spreadsheet to make copies.
   Finally import your spreadsheet.

 * Understood, thanks.
 * That’s what i have been doing but when i start a new brand where the colours
   and sizes differ i have to start all over again.
 * I think your .csv option may have scope to speed this up, i will try creating
   a product with all variables then export as csv, use the filters to show only
   the xl sizes and unavailable colours. I can then delete these entries and reupload.
   In theory, i should have all my options correct and if the user selects an invalid
   option the store will say variation not available (although i will correct that
   message to say something more appropriate).
 * Thank you very much for the help, i will give that a try.

 * The “not available” issue can be fixed by increasing the variations threshold:

   Just beware that the page doesn’t get too big.
 * Another option would be to check out Smart Manager:
    [https://wordpress.org/plugins/smart-manager-for-wp-e-commerce/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/smart-manager-for-wp-e-commerce/)
   This plugin gives a spreadsheet interface available from the dashboard. The free
   version is quite limited but is good for a taste of the pro version before purchase.
   I don’t have the Pro version.
