# Adding static content to post page

 * I’ve been searching far and wide for a solution to my problems, coming up empty
   handed.
    1. I would like to be able to have static content (video blog, site 
   announcement, featured article) displayed at the top of my screen while also 
   displaying 3-5 of the most recent posts to the blog under it on the main page.
   Here is my site: ( [http://lostmodernist.com/](http://lostmodernist.com/) ). 
   I would like for this static content to look like the darker grey box under the
   menu that says “Under Development”. With posts/excerpts appearing just as they
   are right now. I found a website that has static content under the menu that 
   I really like: [http://msa.missouri.edu/](http://msa.missouri.edu/) Any way to
   have a feature like that? 2. Is there any way to get that dark grey box to be
   directly touching the menu bar? Using mystique theme. It’s awesome!

 * It works by adding shortcodes to posts/pages but you can also add this to theme
   template files which was a question I answered in another recent thread:

 * Excuse me for my newbism, I just started looking at wordpress a few days ago.
   After looking into contemplate, I think it may be backwards from what I want.
   I’m needing a way to insert dynamic areas (recent posts) onto a static page. 
   For instance: I need to create a homepage file in mystique so I can put content
   at the top (video link, site announcement, etc) but be able to have an area below
   it that displays recent posts. So my page is part static, part dynamic. Sorry
   for the confusion

 * I didn’t explain it correctly 😛 I may have narrowed it down to this question:
   What code can I inject into my static page to display 5 posts in the manner that
   WP does so automatically on the main page?
