Adding social media icons to SLR Lounge v2

I’ve been working on a site using the SLR Lounge v2 theme and keep getting hung up on adding social media links/icons to the theme. Has anyone been able to figure out where to add these? I’ve not been able to find anything through searches.

Here’s what I’m trying to do exactly: I’m hoping to plug in custom social media icons with links to my social media profiles at the top of the main blog page. I think the easiest way to do this would be through a text widget, but the theme only allows widgets in the footer, right? Am I just out of luck with what I’m trying to do with the theme that I have?
