My site has one blog page, and numerous static pages. Currently, I have a sidebar on the blog page to navigate the postings.

I want a separate and different side bar for all the static pages, and Custom Sidebars seems to be the solution. I have created a custom sidebar, but now I have a question:

Is it possible to add this custom sidebar to ALL my static pages in one shot, or do I have to add the sidebar to each page individually?

  • Hey there pauleduc,

    How are you doing today?

You should be able to achieve that in case you’re looking to use the same sidebar for all your pages. Please note that this will only work for pages that do have sidebar as Custom Sidebars can only replace sidebar and not add it to a page that doesn’t have one.

With that being said you can do that for all pages in Appearance -> Widgets by clicking on the “Sidebar Location” button for selected sidebar and then selecting it as widget area for selected post type (pages), see screenshot http://screencast.com/t/fIWYmJuc2mM.

    Hope this helps 🙂

    Cheers,
    Bojan
