Support » Themes and Templates » Adding register and login links…

  • On my blog ( I’m using a modified version of the 3k2 theme, but in this theme there are no login or register links for visitors on the right in the banner area, actually the only way to get there is to go to a post and click the “You must login to post a comment.” link. How would I go about putting login and register buttons in my banner? Thanks for the help!

    See the proper template tags (the names will guide you)

    Thanks, where do I insert it though? Like which file, and about where should I insert it into the code? And how woudl I get it to show on the right side instead of the left like the regular links?

    I am not familiar with the theme you are using, but I assume it has at least one template file called “sidebar.php”. Check where are the things that appear on the right and put the new template tags there.

    I tried to insert “<?php wp_loginout(); ?>” into a couple sidebar.php in a couple of spots to get a feel for what is what, and also tried it in header.php but a login/logout didn’t even show up anywhere. I’m so confused, any ideas at all?

    into a couple sidebar.php
    You should edit ONLY the sidebar of your active theme: 3k2.

    <div><?php wp_loginout(); ?>

    add this in sidebar.php wherever you want.

    OK, in that theme, it’s in the header – follow resiny’s instructions below.

    In header.php under the horizontil page menu is the following:

    <!-- Disabling admin tab by default in 3k2 -->
    <!-- <li class="admintab"><a href="">Register</a></li> -->

    change that to

    <li class="admintab"><a href="">Register</a></li>

    And you should be set

    Ok now I have a register link, but still no login/out link, how do I get that one? Also, as you can see on the website it’s not showing at the right, well, ok it’s slightly to the right of the logo, but it’s hanging somewhere near the middle, how do I get it more to the right? I tried to do it with css;

    li.admintab {
    margin-bottom: 10px; /* you can use margin to control where the padding starts */
    text-align: right !important;
    width: 70% !important; /* this controls the spacing, my menu uses 70% */

    the li.admintab thing cause in the element it said <li class=”admintab”> so I thought maybe that would work, but it didn’t, at least, it didn’t make it go to the right. Help 🙁

    Nobody? 🙁
