Can you post a link to the RSS feed from Podcast Garden? The text portions of the original entries should’ve come along with the podcast information when you imported them. It’s possible there’s something in the Podcast Garden feed that prevented this from happening.
When you import an RSS feed into PowerPress, it brings in all existing entries from that feed. It doesn’t scan the feed after that for updates. You’ll have to add new episodes manually. This page has instructions on how to do that:

Thnanks.
The RSS URL is: http://www.podcastgarden.com/podcast/podcast-rss.php?id=358
Then also to sum up in short. I need to still post a podcast to the current host, then create a post with the same info and the new episode URL and validate it and then publish the post.
No way to make this a one step process is there?
Thanks again.

Yes, that’s correct. There’s no way I’m aware of that you can automatically post to WordPress/PowerPress using an RSS feed.
The lead developer of PowerPress is going to look over that Podcast Garden feed and see if he can figure out why it didn’t import the blog portions, and only the podcast episodes, from the RSS feed.
Hello synthtony,
I took a look at the Podcast Garden feed. IT does not have <content:encoded> or <description> RSS tags in the <items>. I’ve never seen a feed before with these tags missing. That is why the blog post content is blank as these are the 2 fields where blog post content is specified.
If you go into the podcast episode box (check the box to modify), you will find that the itunes:summary should be there. Those fields are present in your Podcast Garden feed. You should be ab le to copy the content from here and paste it into your blog posts.
I am adding logic to PowerPress to deal with this scenario. Sorry we did not foresee this situation where there are no <description> or <content:encoded> fields. It is highly irregular. I am surprised it passes feed validation even though it is missing key RSS tags.
Hello synthtony,
I have added code to PowerPress to deal with podcastgarden podcast feeds.
Do you want to re-import or did you want to manually edit and fix the previous imported episodes?
Thanks!
Since this is still a dev site, I’d probably want to re import. Do I need to delete all the podcast posts first or can I re import and overwrite?
Awesome this is a dev site!
Hopefully this is not too hard to do but I would recommend deleting all of the imported blog posts then re-import.
At the end of the day today I will be releasing PowerPress 7.0 beta 5 (It is the last beta of 7.0 which has this import logic fixed). We will be releasing PowerPress 7.0 on Monday, but if you do not want to wait until Monday you can get the beta 5 tonight on our beta page: http://create.blubrry.com/resources/powerpress/powerpress-beta/.
It should be posted at the URL linked by 5pm Eastern US time today.
I thought this would just be a process of deleting the existing podcast posts and re importing, but when I re imported, the plugin shows that all the episodes had already been imported except the three I have added since I installed the plugin. So it essentially imported 3 and skipped 179.
I tried re importing again with the Override info box checked, but no difference. Also, none of the posts were recreated when I re imported. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the plugin but it seems to have the info cached somewhere.
So I hate to bug you, but how do I successfully delete the old podcasts/posts, and re import all the podcasts again as well as recreate their relevant posts?
Thanks.
When you deleted the old posts, did you also remove them from the trash?
I have to look but I think we consider posts that are deleted as well as matched in case you were just doing some clean-up to the site after an import.
Emptying the trash worked. Should’ve thought of that.
The import worked and the descriptions showed up.
I am going live this week with their site. At that point I am going to redirect the iTunes feed. Has anything changed or anything additional I should know about redirecting the RSS feed from the old host to PowerPress from the site?
Again thanks for all the help.
