# Adding Photos

 * Hello, I am new to word press and I am tryng to add photos to my website. I have
   tried using the button in the pages section and tried using the borswer method
   and the other option. I keep recieving the following error message.
 * Unable to create directory /var/www/vhosts/soccerandsmiles.com/httpdocs/new/wp-
   content/uploads/2009/03. Is its parent directory writable by the server?
 * Can anyone help? Thank you so much in advance!!!!

    chmod all of these folders to 777 do an upload
   chmod back to 755 should work from now on

 * Breaking down what samboll is saying since it can be a little confusing.
 * SET UP THE UPLOADS FOLDER:
    Open your FTP client and open the wp-content folder.
   You should see a folder here called “uploads” if there isn’t one create it and
   set the folder permissions to “777”. This is generally done by right clicking
   the folder and if on a Macintosh select “Get Info” then check all of the boxes
   under “Permissions”.
 * CREATE YEAR AND MONTH FOLDERS
    You can take this further by creating year and
   month folders “2009” and “03” are examples of this. Change the permissions on
   these as well to “777”.
 * Once you have uploaded an image through the Media Uploader change the permissions
   back to “755” and you’re all set. Hope this makes it a little easier.
