I am trying to create a page which will have both login and register in the same page. I am facing the issue where the error message gets displayed twice.

It also replaces the register form with a login form.

I think you may be over-thinking the process.

If the page/post is blocked, you do not need to place anything on the page shortcode-wise. It should only be marked as blocked.

When content is marked as blocked and the user is not logged in, then it will display the login and registration forms automatically. In this type of instance, messaging will work correctly.

However, if you’ve placed the login and registration form both on a single page using shortcodes, then you can run into some issues with messaging because both of those are intended to be used individually.

My plan was to combine both the registration and login pages.

This was a separate page. Not a blocked page.

I think my question is answered.
