Adding logo above header in VerySimpleStarter

Hello,
I am using the VerySimpleStarter theme and want to add my logo/image above the header. How can I do that? I tried to use the Header and Footer commander plugin. Though this plugin works with many themes but not working with the VerySimpleStarter. If I add a logo above the header, it removes top portions of the header.
