Support » Plugin: Gravity Forms Directory » Adding Link to Contact User of Post (using Buddypress)

Hi, I’m really excited about your directory plugin to create a skillsharing directory, but I need to find a way for the logged-in users to contact each other directly from the directory list.

I’m using BuddyPress 1.8 and ideally the logged in Username could have a profile URL attached to it, but I’m quite a newbie to this and have no idea where I would find that.

I’m sure it would really add value to your directory to have it linking to user profiles or to a ‘send message’ link, so hopefully this thread would be valueable to others.

    Thanks for any help.

Well could you explain little further how you were thinking of using the directory? I’m available at http://www.chatzy.com/39280623062629 if you want faster response etc

HI there, thanks for quick response, I’m in the UK so may not find a sync slot.

Here’s a screenshot of current directory, what I’m trying to get is the Username to be linked to the user’s Buddyprofile, or to be able to send them a message.

    Thanks for any help

I’m running into the same thing. I’m trying to have the username send an email. I have tried 2 different methods
    1 – a mailto link
2 – an href that directs to another gravity form

Both leave me with the actual html tags and do not contain a clickable link.

Can anyone help me with this? I tried using BBCodes [url] and [a href=…] but no luck. I know that the “Entry ID” can be turned into a link, so I thought it would be easy to reference that but that seems more difficult than I thought it would be.

Here is what I’m *slowly* learning…
Gravity Forms is saving all tags as their corresponding ascii codes to the database. So all < are saved as < and all > are saved as > The same goes for quotes. There is a PHP function called esc_html() or esc_attr() that I believe is the cause of this but I don’t think that is necessarily the problem. There is another PHP function called html_entity_decode() that should convert all ascii codes to their corresponding html equivalent. I’m struggling with figuring out where to put that though to convert the ascii codes.

@jpattavina33 thanks for posting where you are. Do let me know if you come up with a solution.

@ibreezer if you could help us that would be most appreciated..

When you create your form inside gravity form you have the option to pick “website” to input a url and “email” to input a mail adress both will be linked in both the table and entry page with corresponding links

P.S. I’m available at the chat if you want any further assistance, ill be available a couple of hours further.

Thanks @ibreezer, but instead of getting users to reveal their email, it would be much more efficient if the username which is being brought through using {user:display_name} could simply link to that profile.

So in the example below, Dream Factory admin would take the user to their profile page or allow them to send a message.

Thanks for any help. Your form is great, it’s just the final linking integration that’s needed.
