Support » Theme: Spacious » adding javascript to footer.php won’t save

  • I need to add some javascript to the free Spacious theme footer.php (before </body>), but after I click “update file,” I get the message, “Something went wrong. Your change may not have been saved. Please try again. There is also a chance that you may need to manually fix and upload the file over FTP .”

This isn’t the first time this has happened, where adding javascript to footer.php wouldn’t save. Can you direct me as to what I need to do so it will save? (Bear in mind that I know nothing about programming, but I can follow instructions.) Thanks in advance.
