I need to add GTM code to the HEAD and beginning of the BODY. What is the best way to add it to AMP pages? I’m using Classic mode. I tried copying the html-start.php file to the below location as an override, but it isn’t working.

    /wp-content/themes/Avada-Child-Theme/templates/amp/html-start.php

Are there filters I can use for those portions of the html code instead?

@squeebo If you are using AMP in reader mode (formerly known as classic mode) it works independently of your current WordPress theme, so you will need to add the code to your reader mode templates as opposed to your theme files.

You can find instructions in this previous support topic, with a reference to a mini plugin which should resolve this issue for you.

You might also want to consider using Site Kit, which can automatically place the Tag Manager code on both AMP and non AMP.
