[resolved] Adding element between slider and main content (2 posts)

    Hey guys,

    I think the couple of websites I'm working on has melted my brain and can't find a solution to what I want to do.

    I want to constrain my pages with a max-width except for a bar that I want to add between the slider and the main content area, that extends the entire width of the body with width: 100%.

    Originally I wanted to constrain the width of all of my pages to 1024px, but then realized that this theme doesn't have a container element within the body (not that I can find the <body> tag in any of the Customizr files), in which all elements reside and thus would have a width of 1024px. I noticed the individual elements (header, slider, main content, footer) have their own widths set to them which will actually probably better for what I want to do.

    I've copied both the custom-page.php and the index.php files to my child theme folder. In css I created a class for the bar
    .bar {width: 100%; max-height: 30px; color: #BA141A;}

    In the index.php copy in my child folder, I added

    <div class="bar">

    between the header and `<div class="container" role="main">. However, nothing happens. In fact when I make any changes to the child index.php nothing happens. I'm not eve sure if this is the main template file anymore.

    If anyone out there can guide me in the right direction to add this bar to my pages I would be greatly appreciative.

    Not that it will help that much since I've just gotten started on this site the link is http://www.biologydesign.com/websites

    Nevermind! I was right, my brain is melting. Looking at all this code the past couple of weeks is making me crazy. I looked at this file at least 3 times and never noticed, both the <body> and the #main-wrapper in this file. I'm losing it.
