 * With any type e-commerce sites , it would be helpful to have more than 1 drafts
folder so that the product columns would read:
    all published drafts1 drafts2
   drafts3 trash
 * What steps would need to be done to accomplish this?
    (add other types of drafts
   as values to post_status)?
 * problem this solves: if there are a lot of items in drafts waiting to be checked
and published often it is important to keep them separate as they may require
different types of work done on them before publishing

 * Maybe the Extended Post Status plugin would help with attaining your goal.
I’ve no experience with it. It’s apparently only for posts, it may not be difficult
to extend it to apply to products instead.
 * It seems to me fiddling with statuses would be kind of messy. I’d be more inclined
to utilize a custom taxonomy to manage the different levels. Such taxonomy terms
could be added to the product list table and products could be filtered by its
terms. Another possibility if that plugin doesn’t work for you.
