I see in your documentation about add CSS background color, but when I copied/pasted into the block advanced settings bar on the right hand side of the page editor, it would not change the background color. If I have to copy the CSS into a child theme or something similar, then I am lost. In this case, I would need to download another TOC plugin. Please give me hope! 🙂

    Hi!

As said in the documentation you have to add custom CSS. This is part of every WordPress installation and can be found in the themes section.

    Did it work?

Look, I know that you’re pointing me in the right direction, but it’s only me. I don’t have anyone else’s help right now, and I know it would take me a lot of time to figure this out. I would really need someone to walk me thru each step, and I know that you are a busy guy. So, I went with another not-so-simple TOC block plugin, and it works much better for me.

No problem. SimpleTOC might be too simple to fit for everyone.
