Title: adding buttons to header Last modified: August 21, 2016 --- # adding buttons to header * Resolved [jumpqbert](https://wordpress.org/support/users/jumpqbert/) * (@jumpqbert) * [12 years, 10 months ago](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/adding-buttons-to-header/) * What I am trying to do is add three clickable buttons that will float on top of my header image, lower right, in a single row of 3. * I have created a child theme for suffusion ver. 4.4.6, and I am self-hosting. * I added the maxbuttons widget thinking I could just create and drop them in. No joy. I also added the WordPress shortcodes widget. Still no joy. After reading about shortcodes I have a very limited understanding but not finding a place in the admin interface to put the shortcodes into the widgets areas. Text widget doesn’t do this. * I am pretty seasoned at html and css, relatively new to php but not intimidated, and I do grasp how wp uses php to construct pages. * So, what now. Tried using a custom menu and inserting it into the header area within the suffusion interface. Seems to be squeezing the buttons in to the far right of my header image. * I’ve used almost all my patience today trying to get this working. Please. please. I’ve got nothing. please, help a buddy out here. * I’m loathe to continue stabbing at this with by best guesses as I want to keep my code clean and really I need to be moving on, this is just one little piece. At this point I may just give up on this and try doing an image map for the header.
