 * I am trying to add a separate page to my website.
 * I am sure this question has been ask many times, but I cannot find the info anywhere.
 * For instance, say my website name is mywebsite.com. This is a web site with its
own content. I now want to add a totally separate blog to this page, with blog
   entries. i.e. blog.mywebsite.com.
 * Can anyone direct me to the correct how to info please?

 * That’s not a problem with WordPress.
 * Create a new page, call it **Blog**, for example. Then in WordPress Dashboard
   >> Settings >> Reading >> Front page displays >> set the “Posts page” to **Blog
   </strong.**
 * Now, snippits or excepts of all the posts you create will be displayed on this
   page: [http://you-site.com/blog/](http://you-site.com/blog/)

 * After making sure that your web hosting package allows multiple add domains,
you can start by following the below steps:
 * 1), Create a new webpage from Pages » Add New
2), On the right hand side, find
the Page Attributes box that allows you to choose a template. 3), After choosing
the template, click on screen options at the top right corner and check the discussion
box. 4), Create another webpage for blog posts by following the same procedure.
5), Go to Setttings » Reading. In the Front page displays, you need to pick A
static page. Assign the first page you created as Front page and another as the
   Posts page.

 * Hi barnez, Thank you for your quick reply. I am not sure if I understand.
 * Would this create a different URL as well? i.e. blog.mywebsite.com

 * Hi PHPMatters, thank you for your reply. Let me check my side if my hosting allows
multiple add domains and see if I can set it up.

 * No problem. The suggestion I made would result in the path:
 * To create the path [http://blog.mywebsite.com](http://blog.mywebsite.com) you
would need to install the blog as a [sub-domain](http://wpsites.net/wordpress-tips/what-is-a-subdomain-how-to-create-sub-domains/)
with its own installation of WordPress and dedicated database. This is only generally
needed if you predict that this part of your site is going to grow sufficiently
large that it justifies its own WordPress installation, or if you want to create
a test site to trial changes to the live site before transferring them to the
live site, although I am ready to stand corrected on the merits of having a blog
   installed as a subdomian.

 * Hi barnez, thank you again.
 * We are predicting the blog to grow substantially. Once I have done this, I will
confirm if a new installation is necessary.
