Adding and deleting home widgets and home widget resizing

I want to have home widget 1 to be about 2 1/2 times the width of home widget 3 and I want to eliminate home widget 1. I also want to add a widget below home widget 1 that is the same width as home widget 1.

I have created a front-page.php file so that I can have 3 home widgets on the home page.

In one of your responses to a post you said to go to the front-page.php file and add <div class=”col-930″ ></div> to create an additional widget that is the length of the webpage. Then register the sidebar in wp-includes/widgets.php. register-sidebar ( )

Where do I ad the code to the front-page.php file?

And what goes in the parenthesis in register-sidebar ( )?

Am I even on the right track?
