# Adding a PDF

 * I run a non-profit and we use word press for our site. I am trying to upload 
   our volunteer application to the page but it won’t let me. I was originally trying
   to upload it as a word document but the download would get interupted with the
   following error message “The uploaded file could not be moved to wp-content/uploads/
   2012/07.” I then converted my word document to a pdf but I’m getting the same
   error message… Help?

 * make sure you save it as a pdf first, then upload it the same way you upload 
   pictures. [go to Add Media / upload files / pick your files that you want to 
   upload]

 * Can you upload images from media section? if no then change write permission 
   of uploads folder to 777. as its 2013 and if you are trying to upload at this
   time the folder should be 2013/…

 * Yes it lets me upload pictures. It’s still not letting me upload pdfs though…
   
   The new error reading says “(67373472) Volunteer Application.pdf” has failed 
   to upload due to an error Unable to create directory wp-content/uploads/2013/
   08. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”. I inherited this website
   with my new job, it’s for a non-profit and this is all new to me I’m afraid, 
   so if you could break your advice down step-by-step, I’d really appreciate it…
