Support » Plugin: TablePress » Adding a NOTES field for a table

I use the DESCRIPTION field for tables to store citation information and other useful information which means that I cannot use the DESCRIPTION as a Caption for a table.

It would be helpful if there was another field such as NOTES so that useful information about the table can be stored. I could then use the DESCRIPTION field as the caption for the table.

    Is this practical idea?

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

To be honest, I’m not sure that this is something that would be helpful for the majority of users (at least I can’t remember having been asked about something like this).

Therefore, I’d instead like to suggest an alternative: Why don’t you add an extra row at the top of your table that you mark as “hidden” (via the checkbox on the left and the “Selected rows: Hide” button)? You’d then have a table field that is not shown to the visitors, but that you can use for such notes.

    Regards,
    Tobias

Thank you. That works. TablePress even takes into account that the hidden rows are not headers or footers even though they are the first or last row in the table.

Thank you for your prompt response and great product.
