  • I have been trying (unsuccessfully) for a few days now to add a dropdown menu to my site which is currently using the Pilot Fish theme. I have tried downloading widgets (such as JQUERY EASY MENU and Dropdown Menu Widget). Neither of these are working and I am sure I followed the correct instructions to properly install them. Is there something unique in this code that prohibits it from working? Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    The menu plugins you’ve tried may have been conflicting with other plugins running on your website. Try disabling some of these other plugins (if they exist).

    The only plug in I currently have running on my site is NextGEN Gallery… And that is something I just installed and even before that it was not working. Any other ideas?

    Use an inspector tool, such as Google Chrome’s Inspect Element tool to evaluate any JavaScript errors that may be generating. Look in the Console section of the tool.

    I’m unable to find anything, but I’m not exactly sure what to look for. Sorry, I’m new to this stuff. My site is http://designbycolleen.com/ if this helps at all.

    The dropdown menu should be below “Portfolio”. There are four pages that are assigned to it.

    Which dropdown menu plugin are you using at the moment?

    I currently have JQUERY EASY MENU activated and set up in my widgets panel.

    On which page is the widgets panel that the dropdown isn’t working?

    This page http://designbycolleen.com/portfolio-3 doesn’t have any children elements within the widget items,

    <div class="page-hierarchy">
                      <h5>Page Hierarchy: Portfolio</h5>
    		  <ul>
    		    <li class="page_item page-item-97"><a href="http://designbycolleen.com/portfolio-3/identity/">Identity</a></li>
    <li class="page_item page-item-91"><a href="http://designbycolleen.com/portfolio-3/misc/">Misc</a></li>
    <li class="page_item page-item-93"><a href="http://designbycolleen.com/portfolio-3/senior-project/">Senior Project</a></li>
    <li class="page_item page-item-95"><a href="http://designbycolleen.com/portfolio-3/spreads/">Spreads</a></li>
    		  </ul>
    </div>

    I apologize for not being very knowledgeable, but this is a link. to what my menu looks like.

    And then in the JQUERY widget I have chosen that menu (“custom”)…

    A nice tool that you could use to make your drop-down menu is Likno AllWebMenus . It will save you time and will do exactly what you want to do with your menu.
