I tried not setting it, setting it, you name it. I followed those steps in that link to the letter. No dice. For now, I’ve had to disable the plugin altogether and just embed the Google Calendar.
Me too – still getting error “Access Not Configured. The API (Calendar API) is not enabled for your project. Please use the Google Developers Console to update your configuration” after removing the IP addresses
Google is telling you what’s missing, you have not enabled the Calendar API in your project – see point #5 of instructions:
5. On the dashboard, under Google Apps APIs, select Calendar API.

6. Click Enable API.

yea sorry for that… but there’s no other way to obtain the API key.
previously, until now, the plugin shipped with an API key to avoid bothering people to look for one. But it wasn’t a good decision as you can see the results now. It exceeded the quota as everyone was using the same key.
but once set it should stay, it’s unlikely you’ll ever hit the quota usage limit ever again
There is in the works an add on for this plugin that adds the ability to use private calendars, pull colors and other things. But it uses another type of authentication for Google and that is also not super friendly to set. For people who will want to use that, if they’re already familiar with Google Console, it will be easier though.
