• I am looking to add my Alexa verification ID to the home page of my blog. What is the quickest way to do that?

Where do I go to edit the homepage HTML?

  • Howdy,

    1. WordPress SEO by Yoast is a plugin that allows you to do this. But, if you don’t want the SEO plugin, perhaps it is overkill.

    2. You can edit the header.php file of your site’s theme and add the alexa code somewhere after <head> but before </head>

    Good luck,
    Paul

Thanks so much Paul. I will try that tonight. I have to input a similar code for technorati, I assume that goes in the same area?

Is there any consequence to having the Yoast plugin and the All-in-one SEO plugin running at the same time?

I haven’t tried running both at the same time to see what really happens, but it is probably not a very good idea, since the both try to manipulate many of the same things.

Once you verify the ID with the Yoast plugin, you could then just disable the Yoast one if you wanted — this is just a quick way for you to get the ID in your document <head> long enough for Alexa to see that you do indeed have control over that domain.

If you just want to do this directly (verify without using someone’s plugin) it’s not too hard. Actually, just follow this person’s short walkthrough:
