Support » Fixing WordPress » Add Widget to Static Page

  • Hello everyone. I am wondering if there is a plugin that will allow me to add a widget to the content of a page. I have a static page set up as my homepage, and I would like to include the “recent posts” widget at the bottom of the content. I know that I can just put that in the sidebar, but I would really like to include it in the page content. Is this possible? Thanks.

    Rusty

  • It is possible, but you need to add the WP loop somewhere in the ‘static’ page.

i’m not sure how you created this static page, but you can have a custom template homepage added in your theme.

    see this for example:

assuming you know already all this stuff, and you have the core loop (but not calling posts) you can have the function call to the ‘sidebar’ alternative (i.e. one at the bottom) in your template and then you can treat it as a normal sidebar.

hopefully it will get you started!

The Widgets on Pages plugin does exactly what you’re after without the need for any coding… just the use of a shortcode with where you’d like the widgets to appear in the page.

I am trying to add widgets_on_pages to the main theme page. Is this possible?
