    Hi
    if I want to shoot some video and uploaded to myself hosted WP site what format is best and how do i embed it?

    MP4? mov? QT? AVI? and at what resolution? Max filesize?

    How do i embed it, do i need a plugin to do it?

  • You will have less headaches if you use Vimeo or Youtube.

    @janet4now, it is not good to suggest the OP to use a certain service if the OP doesn’t want to use it.

    @adrian, WordPress already allows for one to upload a mp4 video to one’s WordPress install, preferrably in a folder in the child theme folder and use a tag on a page that is created for it to be shown.

    For example, you can create a page and use the following tag:

    [video src="/wp-content/themes/my-theme-child/assets/video/about-us.mp4"]

    are there preferred settings for the MP4, bitrate, size, etc?

    None that I know of, but of course the loading time can play an important role depending on how big the video is.

    I have just uploaded a MP4 video and embedded it using media option and it works great apart from on the ipad where it does work but the auto play doesn’t autoplay!

    any idea?

    OK just found that it’s apple that stop auto play so as not to burn the uses download limits…
