Add to the Functions Bar?

I’m looking for a way to add a couple of functions to the functions bar when you’re editing a post. I have a couple of authors for my blog (whom aren’t the most technical oriented) so I’d like to make their lives a little easier by adding some things to the functions bar, but I can’t find what file to edit (or where) to do so.
