Hi, thank you for reaching out to us. This concern is actually related to Firefox, not the plugin. As of the latest updates, Firefox does support Progressive Web Apps (PWAs), but it handles the “Add to Home Screen” feature differently from Chrome.
In Chrome, when a PWA meets specific criteria—such as being served over HTTPS, having a Web App Manifest, and passing certain user engagement thresholds—the browser automatically prompts users with a banner to add the PWA to their home screen.
Firefox, on the other hand, does allow users to add PWAs to the home screen, but it requires manual action. Instead of an automatic banner, users need to manually select the “Add to Home Screen” option from the browser’s menu.
Please note that this behavior may change as browser capabilities evolve, so it’s advisable to stay updated with the latest browser-specific documentation.
Dear SuperPWA, thanks for your reply. My issue does not concern Firefox but Chrome in any phone. I’m not getting the “Add to Home Screen” despite being served over HTTPS, having a manifest, etc. If you try to open https://web.gedu.es/comunidad from a chrome browser app in any smartphone, you do not get such a banner. The site is part of a mulstite, subdirectory based network.
What are we doing wrong?
Thanks in advance.
Hi, Thank you for informing us. We checked on our end and found no such issues. Please check for conflicts with your theme and other plugins, as such issues can sometimes arise from conflicts.
