    Hi!
I have a site where I compare products from different stores. When I import products, I don’t update categories because I want to assign my own categories. But is it possible to assign newly imported products to a category? And don’t touch products that already is placed where they should be? 🙂

    Resolved.
Created a new category, and marked it as “Standard”
Now all new imported products get this category

I was to quick marking this resolved. I still cant get this working.
Anybody know if it’s possible to assign a category to newly imported products with a hook? When importing new products, I don’t import categories because I need to manually assign them later. 🙂

    Hi @sprithansi

In the import template you can type in the category name in the Taxonomies section, then in the import settings (step 4 of a new import) you can enable “Choose which data to update” and disable “Taxonomies”, or use “Leave these taxonomies alone, update all others”, to stop the import from updating the category for existing posts.
