• Hi there,

I’m accustomed to the flexibility of the Avada theme, and would love to see a few features implemented in Sydney. First, I’d like to have a simple search option in the main menu. It can appear like a magnifying glass icon until the user hovers over it, and then open a search field.

I’d like options to customize the appearance and content of the employee and BuddyPress member posts.

I’m getting rid of the Page Builder add-in, because you can’t copy and paste across pages/posts and the editor doesn’t hold the formatting in shortcode form when reverting to the text editor. It’s decidedly inferior to other options used in Avada, which you might want to check out.

Finally, it would be great if the user could set desired font styles & sizes, line spacing options, and color palette assignments for different types of posts without having to to make code edits in the child theme.

Any ideas on how to implement these features?

    Many thanks,
    Diana

  • Dear Diana,

    Thank you for posting in.

Let’s address them on by one.

First, I’d like to have a simple search option in the main menu. It can appear like a magnifying glass icon until the user hovers over it, and then open a search field.

Please follow the tutorial posted on this thread.

I hope that works for you as well.

    Regards,
    Kharis

    Hi Kharis,

Thanks for such a rapid response! I just purchased the pro version and was hoping the search widget below the header would work, but I am still figuring out how to modify it to place it within the header overlay with the menu, rather than below it.

Another wish would be to be able to change the number of slides permitted in the front page slider (I need 6!).

    More soon.

    Best,
    Diana

    Hi Kharis,

The search solution provided won’t work. I want a simple/subtle magnifying glass that expands into a search field.

Will post my other questions in the Sydney Pro support forum.

    Diana

    Dear Diana,

The search solution provided won’t work.

Let me ask something. What do you mean by “won’t work” here? Please see the working code applied by user at his site. If possible, please put back the code and keep everything remain, so I can check it.

    Regards,
    Kharis
