How can I add icons and links for RSS/Twitter/Facebook in the area where I have my widgets?
It’s essentially a 2-step process:
1. Upload the icon image(s) to your media library.
2. Add a “Text” widget to your sidebar and insert code similar to the following:
<a href="http://twitter.com/bledsoe"><img src="http://www.lancebledsoe.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/tweeter_48x48.png" /></a>
<a href="http://www.facebook.com/lancebledsoe"><img src="http://www.lancebledsoe.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/facebook_48.png" /></a>
<a href="mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org"><img src="http://www.lancebledsoe.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/email_48x48.png" /></a>
<a href="http://www.lancebledsoe.com/feed/"><img src="http://www.lancebledsoe.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/rss_48x481.png" /></a>
Then just change the URLs so that they point to your icons and links. As you can see, I have four icons in my sidebar (twitter, facebook, email, and rss).
Ahh. I never knew the text widget did HTML.. I should have read the description underneath. This makes everything much easier, thanks a lot bledsoe!
Another question.. seeing as how the text widget can do HTML. Can I throw a visitor tracker in there?
I’ve never tried it, but as far as I know you can insert any html into a text widget. It’s pretty all-purpose. Try it out and see if it works!
Great, thanks again!
