I keep changing my themes and think I’ve settled on the clean retina. Anyway, I am wondering how do you add a photo to the sidebar?

In general, sidebars contain widgets, so it would be under Appearance > Widget – where you can add the URL for the image – copy that from the media library.

Or you might try this plugin –
