Add pages with feature image thumbnails to sidebar

I am attempting to add a section in my main sidebar that includes both the feature image that I have assigned to a page and then I would like to have a small description to the right of that feature image thumbnail. From everything I have read it looks like my best option for doing this would be with a text widget and just doing this in html? So far I have been able to add the thumbnail via the img src tag.

Here is what I am trying to accomplish.

title(NEW PRODUCTS)
feature image from Ford page | Brief description that I write
feature image from Dodge page | Brief description that I write
etc, etc.
