I’ve assigned an add-on domain to my primary domain ( and would like to install WordPress a second time to start working on my add-on site.

However, I’m having trouble figuring out where to install WordPress for a second time. At this screen:

Where would you like WordPress installed?

    I select my add-on domain:

However, when I click to install it there, WP says:
Directory already exists, are you sure you want to overwrite contents?

Should I be selecting a different domain instead? Such as: or

I just want my add-on domain to be

I’m worried about messing up my primary domain.

Newcomer to WP. Thanks for the help.

  • With an add-on domain, and are basically the same, but you still probably want your installation on

Have you already created other files in the folder? Those files might be overwritten by the one-click install.

What host are you using? Most of my experience is using BlueHost. If you don’t trust SimpleScripts, you can always install the second WP install via FTP.

    Hey Kevin;

    Thanks for the response.

If I’ve created any files on jetcopywriting, I didn’t do it on purpose. So I could care less if they’re overwritten.

All I care about is not messing with my primary blog. So if I install WP to http://jetcopywriting and click overwrite it won’t do any damage to my primary blog?

    Thanks again,

And yes, I am using Bluehost.

Yeah as long as your primary blog is not in that same folder you’ll be fine.

Take a look at the server path when you select http://jetcopywriting. It should be something like this:

    Server Path: /home1/ROOTDOMAIN/public_html/JETCOPYWRITING/

This is the folder where WordPress will be installed. So if your other blog is in the root folder or another folder, you’ll be fine.

    Hope that helps.

Yep, I went ahead with the install and all is well.

    Appreciate your help.
