• Hi,

I’m developing a plugin. When I upload it via the add new plugin in WordPress it’s creating an extra file named \. Yes backslash as in ‘\’ in the root of the plugin. The file is actually an old version of one of the existing files in the includes directory of the plugin. I can’t see this file on my Mac. Also if I use file manager in cPanel and upload and extract it’s not there. Only when I use the WordPress add new plugin and upload the .zip file.

I’ve run virus scans on both my laptop and web host thinking maybe it was a virus but nothing is detected.

    Don’t know…

I installed the plugin on a few other sites and that did not happen.

I deleted that install of WordPress (kept the config file and database)

Did a fresh install of 4.9.2 and now the problem is gone.

The only other difference is the original install was a 4.8.x tar file I had laying around and this time I downloaded latest as opposed to installing what I had then updating.
